This was the first time at the Sprayground that he didn't spend the first few minutes a little uneasy. Usually he just hugs you and lays his head on your shoulder lifting his head every few seconds to look around. It's a really nice perk to freaking him out :) This time, however, he was straight in to squirming around and splashing in the water. I did almost have an incident with a small boy, probably 2-ish, who didn't like that Henry was splashing in the same area as he was. At first they were just checking each other out, but then the little boy pushed Henry. Not hard, but it was malicious. Henry didn't even notice, thankfully. In general I believe kids will be kids and there is a certain amount of "other kids' issues" that Henry {and I} will need to get used to. It just bugs when the other mom doesn't jump in and stop what's going on. Oh well, disaster averted and on with the post.
While this photo is slightly over-exposed, Henry is teetering on albino.
**For the record, Henry has more than the 2 teeth you see all the time. In fact, there are 4 more on top that you just can't see when he smiles, laughes, or does anything. They are there though and if you tilt your head just so and look at the exact right moment while you're pushing his upper lip up, you'll see them. I call them his secret teeth.
In other Henry news, on Monday he took his FIRST STEPS! He's not walking yet, but I'm sure it will be soon. We're going to the beach in a month and we hope he's walking by then. After dinner on Monday, Chris and I were sitting on the floor facing each other a few feet apart with Henry between us. I stood him up and as soon as he got his balance, I let go. He stepped a quick 1 - 2 - 3 and then was to Chris. We didn't know whether to laugh or scream it was so fun! He's a great walker when he's pushing something or holding your hand and he has great balance. He is such a fast crawler that I'm sure he doesn't see the benefit in walking just yet. He will do it in his own time and that's just fine with us!
Post Script: Have I told you? Thanks for reading the blog! I love that so many of you do. I am new to the blogger etiquette and am not sure the best way to respond to your comments so you'll see them {do you go back to your comment and see if I've responded?!}, but I do read them and love them. Keep 'em comin'!
Congrats on the first steps. The down side of this, of course, is losing the clippidy clops on the hardwoods. That noise really made my heart smile.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, Brad. That was always so funny!
